WITH Zorada Temmingh (organ)

Zorada Temmingh is regarded as one of South Africa’s foremost organ improvisers, especially known for her innovative soundtrack improvisations for silent films. She returns to the stage at Klein Karoo Klassique for the first time since 2009, to perform music that ranges from distinguished cathedral music to imaginative improvised music. The programme includes works by popular organ composers such as Johann Pachelbel and Léon Boëllmann, as well as some of her own compositions and improvisations on church hymns. The organ’s tonal colour and dynamic power will be thoroughly explored. She was honoured with a special Kanna Award by the KKNK for her Groundbreaking Contribution to Classical Music in 2006. The recital is followed by a free music discussion with Zorada in the NGK Park.

Nonhlanhla Yende (mezzosoprano), Charl du Plessis (piano), Werner Spies (double bass), Peter Auret (drums) and the Cape Town Festival Orchestra, conducted by Richard Cock, brings music by Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi and Bach to the stage.
