Main street. Town centre. Rush. Bustle. Lights shimmering. Traffic pulsing through hidden colours. The pulse of the town. Shapes changing. Shades merging. Changing in the living pulse. Like it or not the sacred pulse of the modern life.
Ian Tainton

Ian is a professional artist who is proficient in all media, especially printmaking (etching, woodcut, linocut, lithography) and oil painting. He has a unique way of teaching, picking up on each individual’s ability and guiding them accordingly.

He managed the Print Making Gallery at the renowned Strydom Gallery in George for 16 years.

Ian currently teaches on a farm, Le Jardin, in the Blanco area. He also restores paintings.

“If the journey is better than getting to your destination then one must take in the sights with pleasure. Whether it’s ‘real’ or imagined there will be a need to ‘get it down’ – transcribed on whatever mediums suits.

“The journey can lead over hills, into valleys, into dark corners or humorous sunlights. To demarcate with a line is not in keeping with the free range available in art. That which interests need to be explored and mulled over for, just as one gets older and looks back on life’s verisimilitude.

“I, the artist, can say I visited that place. It was fun.”

Sacred Pulse lives in the spaces where frequency becomes vision — and for me it is in the quiet architecture of a sunflower.
