WITH Esthea Kruger (piano), Shannon Thebus (French horn) and Louisa Theart (flute)

Spanning two centuries of musical imagination, this captivating recital brings together a rich tapestry of chamber works by some of Europe’s most distinctive voices. From the classical elegance and lyrical warmth of Beethoven’s Sonata for Horn and Piano to the refined charm and emotional depth of Poulenc’s Sonata for Flute and Piano, the programme celebrates the expressive possibilities of chamber music. Charles Koechlin’s evocative Deux Nocturnes offers shimmering impressionistic colours, while Franz Doppler’s Souvenir de Rigi delights with Romantic lyricism and dazzling virtuosity inspired by the Swiss landscape. The recital concludes with Mélanie Bonis’s enchanting Scènes de la Forêt, a vivid musical journey through the mystery and beauty of the natural world. The recital is followed by a free music discussion with the artists upstairs in the Banqueting Hall.
