The theme expresses the relationship between colour, classical music, composition and emotion. Inspired by the silence of the stillness of the Klein Karoo that is evoked with Klein Karoo Klassique it invites the viewer to ask: “What music do you hear looking at the artwork?” The exhibition considers colour as contrast through light (and dark) as a composed symphony with atmosphere and melody. Visual art has tempo, rhythm, luminosity and space that can lead one, like music, through the emotional spectrum. It invites the artist to explore and engage with the atmosphere and emotion of classical music as influence and metaphor. Light in meaning both illumination and orchestration.
